New team to be formed to talk to agitating Madhesi parties

Kathmandu, November 16. Major political parties have agreed to form a new team to talk to agitating Madhesi parties. The new committee, which will replace the Kamal Thapa-led team, will also include the representative from Nepali Congress.

Nepali Congress did not want to become a part of the ‘government talks team’, so the new team will be more political in nature, said Law Minister Agni Kharel, who was also part of the Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa-led team.

The announcement comes as Madheshi parties said the revision of the boundaries of the federal states was their ‘bottom line’. However, CPN-UML, the ruling party, has maintained that an expert committee should be allowed to look into the issue.
