KATHMANDU, Nov 14: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has pledged to address the genuine demands of Madhesi community to the extent possible.
Taking part in an interaction program organized by the Reporters' Club in the capital city Friday, leader Dahal was in a view of addressing the noble demands of the Madhesh even by amending the constitution and thereby ending adversity being faced by the people due to India's unofficial blockade on the country.
"Implementation of the constitution is more challenging than its drafting," he said.
Underlining the need of unity among all political parties to enforce the constitution, the Chair of ruling partner UCPN (M) said he was hopeful that the Nepali Congress would join the government after the party general convention.
The government and his party were doing the best to bring the Madhesh-centric parties into a consensus and were in touch with them.
Madhesh is one of the integral parts of the Nepali politics, he said, adding that discussions at diplomatic level with India were on to lift the existing blockade imposed by India on the country. He was hopeful that it would come to an end soon, he added.
