Have you run out of cooking gas and don’t know where you can fill your empty cylinder? Just call 01-4262586.
The number connects you to a control room operated by Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).
Director of NOC, Mukunda Ghimire says consumers can get information on nearest dealer locations and brands of gas available. To aid the process, LPG bottlers have started sending details of name and number of gas cylinders sent to dealers along with the dealer’s location.
Since the unofficial blockade by India, NOC has not been able to import adequate amount of gas resulting in chronic shortages. According to NOC Kathmandu Valley alone needs 30 bullets (37,500 cylinders) of LPG on a daily basis. Currently only five bullets are coming into the country.
Consumers faced difficulties after the bottling plants distributed gas cylinders directly through their depots instead of sending them to dealers. The NOC on Monday had cracked down on this and the distributors have now agreed to send cylinders to dealers.
Despite this, NOC warns not everyone may be able to exchange their empty cylinders.
