Nepal team to leave for China Thursday to sign fuel trade deal

KATHMANDU: A delegation from the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies is all set to leave for China on Thursday to sign a bilateral petroleum trade deal with the northern neighbour.

Minister for Commerce and Supply Ganesh Man Pun informed so while talking to journalists at his office this afternoon.

The Minister claimed the government has taken all alternative measures to ease the supply of fuel in the country.

Pun had returned from China just yesterday after making preparations for the agreement.

During his China visit, the Minister had held informal discussions with high-ranking officials to create a positive atmosphere for the bilateral trade agreement.

“China has agreed to provide fuel to Nepal at an affordable price as per the need and the government delegation is expected to finalise the deal,” Pun said.

The Chinese officials also said that there would be no problem in supplying cooking gas to Nepal from China, added the Minister.

The Government of China agreed to exempt local tax on the import of fuel from there and there would be no more difference in the prices of fuel imported from China and India, the Commerce Minister said.
